Gouda Academy Super SAT Grammar Game

Learn the rules, use the hacks, beat the traps, build a streak, and master the grammar patterns the SAT repeats again and again. This interactive guide is designed for students to use independently: every round teaches, tests, and explains.

Super Grammar Cheat Sheet

  • Twin Elimination: A period and semicolon perform the same sentence-splitting job between two complete sentences. If two answer choices differ only by those twins in the same place, both cannot be the one unique answer.

  • Comma + FANBOYS: For, and, nor, but, or, yet, so can join two complete sentences when a comma comes before the FANBOYS word.

  • Colon / Single Dash: The words before the punctuation must already form a complete sentence; what follows gives a list, explanation, or reveal.

  • Front Flip Modifier Hack: The noun immediately after the opening modifier must logically be the person or thing described by that modifier.

  • Safe Odd Verb Out: Use the answer choices to spot an agreement pattern quickly, but always confirm the verb against the real subject. Never choose the odd form automatically.

  • Sandwich Skip: Temporarily ignore extra material between matching commas or dashes to uncover the true subject or pronoun antecedent.

  • Apostrophe Test: Apostrophes mainly signal ownership or contractions. For pronouns, its/their/whose show possession; it's/they're/who's are contractions.

  • Transitions: First identify the relationship between ideas—continuing, cause/effect, or contrast—then choose the transition that expresses that relationship.

Accuracy first. Speed comes after the pattern becomes automatic.
